Acclaro consulted with EBSCO, a leading information resource provider to achieve a more agile translation process.
Acclaro is EBSCO’s long-term translation partner. Our teams recently collaborated on initiatives to make EBSCO’s translation workflows agile ready. Available in 50+ interfaces, and translated in 29 languages, EBSCOhost is a widely used online reference system with a collection of databases for research via the internet. Legacy processes setup years ago worked well but were not nimble enough to meet agile requirements.
Acclaro initiated a discovery phase to explore EBSCO’s agile requirements, discuss how automation could potentially ease large file exchanges, and how they could speed up the processing of files in and out of the translation memory tool.
The two biggest initiatives for this project were:
- Engineering solutions to streamline processing of large, 400k+ string, resource files
- Deploying a new translation memory tool
Acclaro focused on how to cost-effectively migrate each of the 29 languages into the new translation memory tool to increase process automation speed, prepare files automatically and route them to linguists. As a result of these initiatives, translations are being completed more effectively and efficiently, cutting turn-around times in half.
The newly established translation process serves as a foundation for ongoing agile initiatives, increased communication and collaboration for teams, and increased linguist engagement and content exposure.
Streamlined agile translation solutions are available for any size budget and organization. Localization service providers can act as an extension of your internal team to help make big process changes possible for smaller client-localization teams.
