Translation and localization agency Acclaro congratulates its former director of operations, Anna Schlegel, for her new chairwomanship of Women in Localization. This career development organization supports 1,000 women around the world working to advance the localization industry.
New York, NY, February 5, 2013 – New York-based translation and localization agency Acclaro is proud to announce its former director of operations, Anna Schlegel, will be taking over as chairwoman for Women in Localization (W.L.), the international career development organization with nearly 1,000 members.
“I am thrilled to be Chairwoman this year, we have an expanding board and we are reaching 1,000 women across the globe. We have created a network of intelligent strong women to share and enrich their knowledge in this ever changing environment,” said Schlegel.
Schlegel’s new position was announced January 25, 2013 as Eva Klaudinyova of VMware ended her term in the organization’s annual rotating chairwomanship. Anna is one of three women that founded Women in Localization in 2008 and has been an executive board member since. The group was founded in Northern California’s Silicon Valley and has quickly grown to attract members from all over the world.
As a company with key operational and leadership roles filled by women, Acclaro has a lot to gain from groups like W.L. The San Francisco office is currently headed by Emma Young, who stepped in to fill Anna’s shoes as director of west coast operations. Women hold many other senior positions including east coast operations director, vice president of sales and operations, director of marketing, and head of translation services. More than 75 percent of project and program managers at Acclaro are women.
“We are proud to see our former head of the San Francisco office take on this role. Women in Localization does important work to support the career development of women in our field. We look forward to our talented female employees participating under Anna’s leadership and taking on the great challenges of our industry,” said Michael Kriz, founder and president of Acclaro.
Women in Localization is particularly active in the Bay Area and regularly organizes educational and networking events, which have been hosted at the Acclaro San Francisco translation services office. Several of the female managers and employees at Acclaro have been members of the industry networking group since 2008. Acclaro will continue to support the organization and encourage employees to take advantage of the resource for women in the localization industry.
